I lost myself in on a star-ship called Basilica today. I intended to write for a couple of hours and ended up three chapters and seven hours deeper into my current project. For those new to this topic, I and currently writing the second in a multi-book series I had imagined called ‘Denouement’.
I’m not here to talk about the plot today. That will come at some point when we’re closer to be releasing it though, I assure you. I even made a wiki! (Yeah, don’t ask, there’s a lot going on and I needed to keep track of it all.
The first Denouement is at the “I passed it to my friend Oli who is fixing it for me” stage. Once she has finished casting her brutal gaze across it, then it’s time for another edit, a re-write of the ending and a few more weeks of tinkering with at least one broken plot thread. Novels take time and it’s far closer to ‘cooked’ than it may sound here.
Once all that’s done, it’s off to Beta readers (hi, Wing!) and eventually, once it passes the last inspection, it will join Hunter’s Garden on Amazon.
If all goes well, I may only be slightly late for my self-imposed deadline of late June.
Which all feels strange given that I’m 67k words into Denouement Part 2. But the nature of these things is it’s all a slow burn and I can’t just not write! And as such, I moved on to part 2. It will make me laugh a little if it turns out to be total horse shit. But hey, I’ve had a blast telling my story!
My schedule is still “write every day or cry” and I have recently been failing to keep my Aeon Timeline project synched, so much so that I have decided to leave it until the last pass.
On my final read through I’ll do it with the aim of not only picking out the last of the typo’s but to also make sure I have the exact page number that things happen, peoples’ full names logged and a little bio for each character. This will let me populate that Aeon Timeline, the Wiki and, hopefully, provide it all to any readers who are interested in more about the story. I’m not precious or secretive about my work-in-progress aside from being aware that it will have more impact if people read it without spoilers.
With all this in mind let’s do the check-in:
- Denouement 1: Around 80% done on first edit.
- Denouement 2: 67K words into draft 1.
There you go. The first Patreon-first update

Thanks for reading, see you soon.
Hex.
Looking forward to reading it. 👍
If it’s half as good as Hunters Garden, I’ll enjoy it.
